SUMMARY

The Mechatronics course studies the design of intelligent devices and the interfacing of micro-computers with machines. There’s focus on microprocessor characteristics, actuator function and implementation, sensor integration, circuit design and the digital resolution of a sensor.

The final projected is a culmination of each of the main concepts covered throughout the semester. For this final project each of the students are able to choose a final project, and I chose to design and develop a 2D pen plotter.

The developed pen plotter uses G-Code (a commonly used CNC code) to send signals to the pen plotter to execute a combination of movement of the pen and drawing paper to develop an image. The final submitted project is shown below.

A demonstration video was developed to show the wide range of drawing possibilities with this plotter. This video is shown below:
